Chandratal Lake, sitting at over 14,000 feet above sea level, is one of the Himalayas' most stunning high-altitude lakes ā and the journey to get there is half the adventure. The road from Chatru through the Spiti Valley is barely a road at all: 3 hours of raw off-roading through river crossings (nalas), boulder-strewn tracks, and landscapes that seem to belong to another planet. Snow-clad peaks tower on all sides. The wild Chandra River rushes alongside. And then suddenly ā a crescent of impossibly blue water appears in the barren high-altitude desert. Pure magic. This was a detour during the Hampta Pass trek, and it was absolutely worth every bump and splash. š Chandratal Lake, Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh, India š„ Shot on GoPro Hero 7 Black š Thanks to Indiahikes: https://indiahikes.com Read more: https://wanderingbong.com/blog/the-monsoon-diaries-walking-the-cloud-line-at-hampta-pass #Chandratal #SpitiValley #HimachalPradesh #HighAltitudeLake #HamtaPass #Himalayas #OffRoad #WanderingBong #IndiaTravel #MountainLake
