Where KD Palace is the reliable central pick inside the fort, this is the one you book for what you can see from it. The terrace sits near the high point of the fort, so the view runs across the sandstone roofs and out to the flat Thar horizon. Rooms are good, the staff are warm in a way that isn't performed, and the food holds up.
Getting in means walking the last stretch — cars don't reach the door anywhere inside the walls. That's the trade, and it's the same one every fort-interior property asks of you.
We'd split a multi-night stay between this and KD Palace rather than choose. They gave us different angles on the same fort and neither felt redundant against the other.
